Abby Powell Turpin is a seasoned communications, PR, and marketing professional, recognized for her exceptional storytelling skills and extensive strategic work across diverse industries.
With over 11 years of experience in television news, Abby excelled as an anchor, reporter, and executive producer in both local U.S. markets and at a national network. Her journalism excellence was recognized with regional Edward R. Murrow, Associated Press, and Emmy awards.
Abby's career in broadcast journalism transitioned into a role as Director of Marketing and Communications at the national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful. Here, she developed and executed strategic communications and marketing initiatives, driving brand growth and overseeing a 700+ affiliate network. Noteworthy achievements include launching the "Affiliate of the Month" program and establishing the KAB Network Communications Group. Her role as writer and host of the Vision for America annual event garnered her team 9 prestigious MarCom industry awards, including the Communitas Award for Excellence in Community Service.
As the Director of Internal Communications at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Abby delivered impactful messaging to internal stakeholders, including a network of 230+ agencies nationwide. She spearheaded a comprehensive overhaul of the organization’s communication strategy, crafted and managed content for the BBBSA National Conference, and led the prestigious Big & Littles of the Year program. Her work in strategic communications, public relations, and brand advocacy contributed to improved internal and external engagement.
In 2023, Abby founded APT Communications, Marketing, and Media, emphasizing genuine listening and proactive engagement to tailor communication and marketing strategies to the unique needs of organizations and businesses. In 2024, she partnered with Chuck Rowe of Midwest Studies Group to establish the Strategic Impact Alliance, focused on enhancing services and offering comprehensive support for organizations seeking growth and transformation.
Abby is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She and her husband are the proud parents of a 7-year-old daughter.
