ABBY POWELL TURPIN
 

Abby Powell Turpin is a seasoned communications expert, known for her storytelling skills and extensive proficiency in various facets of communication and leadership across diverse industries.

​

Abby dedicated over 11 years to television news as an anchor, reporter, and executive producer, working in both local U.S. markets and at a national network. Her journalism work earned her multiple prestigious awards, including regional Edward R. Murrow, Associated Press, and Emmy awards.

​

Abby’s accomplishments in broadcast journalism led her to the role of Director of Marketing and Communications at national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful. In this capacity, she developed environmental sustainability initiatives at the national level and managed a vast 700+ affiliate network, introducing impactful programs such as Affiliate of the Month and establishing the KAB Network Communications Group. Notably, her role as the writer and host of the Vision for America annual event earned her team nine distinguished MarCom industry awards, including the esteemed 2022 Communitas Award for Excellence in Community Service.

Abby went on to serve as the Director of Internal Communications at national nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. In this role, she delivered effective messaging to a wide range of internal stakeholders, including national staff and the extensive network of over 230+ Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies nationwide. She spearheaded the complete overhaul of the organization's communication strategy, scripted and managed the content for the BBBSA National Conference, and served as the project manager for the organization's prestigious Bigs & Littles of the Year program.

​In 2023, Abby launched APT Communications, Marketing, and Media with a core focus on genuine listening and proactive engagement. The APT Team tailors its communications and marketing work to the very unique requirements of the organizations and businesses they serve. Additionally, it was important to Abby to offer a nurturing environment for aspiring young TV journalists, giving them a guided path into the industry that afforded her countless opportunities for growth.

Abby is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She and her husband are the proud parents of a 7-year-old daughter.
